Gravity of the Useless

The exhibition 'Gravity of the Useless' explores the moments when the pulsating energy produced by planetary machines breaks away from their enormous bodies. In the form of discharges, waste, radiation or data, this energy rushes headlong in unclear directions, either disappearing in pointless excess or becoming distorted beyond recognition. Through the work of Liu Chuang, Ben Grosser, Csilla Nagy & Rita Süveges, Jan Olt and Makar Tereshina, the exhibition sets out to explore the ‘fallout zones’ of vast technological infrastructures and map how unstoppable growth, generating ever ‘more’, always goes hand in hand with irreversible decay.

The programme will also feature philosopher and theorist Maya B. Kronic, who will deliver a lecture on technology and excess entitled 'In Love with Senseless Intensification' during the opening. A curated video selection under the same title will be on view at Display Gallery throughout the exhibition.
