Artificial Cinema (tranzitdisplay)

Curated by Mohammad Salemy and a team of researchers from [The New Centre for Research & Practice], the exhibition is a large collaborative effort that explores the history of science fiction cinema and its embedded potentials for arriving at a synthesized vision for the future of art. The exhibition traces a trajectory away from [Anthropocinema] — human centered cinema — towards more open and complex cinematic collaborations between humans and machines. By means of multiple curatorially conceptualized software programs, written and structured in collaboration with Tony Yanick who acts as the project’s algorithm architect, a logical engine automatically composes two single channel videos using the participants’ research data. These artificially constructed videos are then responded to by the Amsterdam-based painter Sam Samiee.
